While desk sets, pen and pencil sets and other items typically used in the graduate's new life are very popular, don't discard the less traditional ideas you might have. The best graduation gifts are those that are given from the heart and mean a great deal to the recipient. That means anything goes as long as it's something your graduate wants. With that in mind, graduate gifts can be anything from picture frames to car accessories.

Graduation gifts also don't have to be a physical item. What female graduate can't use a make over, haircut, or full spa treatment as she prepares to enter college or the work place? For those graduates who are into exercise, a membership to a gym might be a great idea, especially if the graduate is moving to a new area. Most cities have listings of gyms in the phone book or online, or you can contact that city's chamber of commerce for suggestions.
